Just one sleep to go now until Gulliver and I push off from Japan’s shores on Sunday morning. Exciting times. Slightly nervous times, too.
This row will be one of the most challenging things I ever do in my life, I expect. I know it will be frightening out there at times. Here’s a short film sharing my thoughts on those top fears.

Excellent videos Sarah and team. I saw a boat similar to yours at the Toronto International Boat Show two years ago so I have some appreciation of Gulliver being both your companion and protector….and the physical challenge. Hi Sarah, I am getting excited for you…! I too know how hard it is to ‘leave Japan’ even for a short while, but you will return…it is just a little Sayonara…! I am doing research on ‘Adventure’ and come across inspiring quotes and will send you a few. This one I found recently: “I learned that the richness of life is found in adventure…it develops self-reliance and independence. Life then teams with excitement, there is a stagnation only in security.” (William O. Douglas, former USA Supreme Court Justice) You, Roz Savage, and Laura Dekker, will all be crossing oceans again…at the same time…! Whoa…!

I came across your adventure in a roundabout way while following Laura Dekker and Tommy Tippits and just wanted to wish you all the best for this huge endeavour. As an ex bluewater sailor (albeit 30 years ago) I shall be following you all the way and have all my fingers and toes crossed that all goes well. Don’t forget to look out for all the debris from the japanese tsunami disaster, especially at night, there are some big chunks out there taking the same route as you. Good luck and take care!
What an incredible journey Sarah… I’m excited about your launch date this coming weekend. I’d be interested in learning a little more about your boat… It appears there are 2 cabins in the back and front?
