Nay much to report from Day 78 though again, twas lovely and sunny sunny, fairly musical and all in the right direction.
Herewith a roundup:
-6 nauties to the next degree and now over 1800 away from Perth.
-Spent the morning with Stephen Fry reading us some wonderful little tales by Oscar Wilde and Anton Chekhov. Marvellous.
-Tomorrow we start Tolstoy’s ‘War and Peace’. Wish me luck.
-Green peas sprouting away happily in the corner, ready for harvesting tomorrow.
-Nearly managed a whole portion of mush claiming to be ‘chilli non carne’. These will be our greatest battles to the end, I fear.
– First day without chocolate. Thought I should easy up and make sure there’s some for days ahead after my previous advance raids on food bags.
– Shoulders asked very nicely for a massage but my hands failed to satisfy, said shoulders being very solid and knotty and sort of out of reach. Any sports masseurs in the area, do please feel free to drop by and help.
-Have been on the lookout for Woozels and Heffalumps all day but none to report. Glad of this.
– Had some lovely chats with my super kind Silver sponsors. Thanks also to everyone who has helped out, donated or sponsored. This X-petition, (in the words of our dear friend Pooh Bear) is a team game really and I am super chuffed to be so well supported and seeing the totals rise for Arthrits Care.
So, back to the oars to round off Day 78, then onwards to the next… 1400 miles.

PS
Susie Calderan – We have roll call every morning, I’m sure they wouldn’t desert me. Heb tans the best. Wind more than sun?!
Barry Gumbert – Herewith my next batch of requests : ) On the Ning Nang Nong(Carrol?); Ulysses (Tennyson). Thank you, as ever, super grateful!
Grandma Barb – A few more weeks out here yet… Absolutely no regrets.
Dyl Powell – Good luck with Speech Day and please send a thank you to the silent girls. I would struggle with that, even out here.
Marcel – Every day’s a school day – had no idea Rodrigues and others were yours. Are yours.
Roostie – Great email, thankye. Hello to Sonya & have gteat time in Brum.
Hi There – Expotition??? Thought it was spelt with an ‘o’. Or is that just pedantic. 12 hour shifton sunday and 16 hours on Monday. Made the deadlines for both essays with the final footnote on the second slotted in at 20.55. Deadline 21.55. I did decide to do a cut and paste Monday morning because it wasn’t reading well. Large, long jigsaw. Mad, but I’m pleased with it. One more essay to do now.
Just had great shoulder freeing session with a singer after too long essay writing. I don’t know if I can describe this, but I’ll try. It may just hit the spot.
Clasp hands, fingers interlinked.
Front stretch with hands turned inside out, rounding spine and releasing shoulder blades.
Hands still reversed reach high above head. In breath.
Exhale, lowering hands towards head with elbows and hands as wide and far back as poss.
Inhale and repeat reach up, hands still reversed.
Exhale repeat lower.
Inhale and reach. Keep hands linked.
Rotate L on exhale, repeat up stretch while still rotated, exhale.
Inhale to reach high and return to centre,
Rotate right on exhale, etc. again keeping elbows wide.
Release hands and reach high and wide, and slowly lower keeping arms straight and as far back as possible.
Tuck should blades in(albie ref) like wings and lengthen neck as hands return to sides.
It did a good job for me. Also – focus on the spine rather than shoulders, lengthening up and through neck.
Good to hear of your literary endeavours.
LoL

Hi Sarah, have not been able to follow your track for a couple of weeks, it seems that you had quite a hard time. How is the food ration going especially the chocolate. With all the bad weather how long do you anticipate it will take you to reach destination? I will try to long on again this week, if the old shoulder permits. hope the weather is good to you.
There are holes in the sky
Where the rain gets in.
The holes are very small.
That’s why rain is thin.
Very pertinent for today in Worcester!
That’s Spike Milligan, who did the Ning Nang Nong too, but I can’ remember that one!
With much admiration as always!

So sorry Sarah I have been away from here for a few days but the excitement of our boys making the half way mark has been electric!!! You know the feeling all too well; to see the left hand side of the map from Mauritius more than the right hand side.
Please push down and along as you move over The Red Carpet each time, so it will find it’s way over to Flying Ferkins. We all need that luxury weather to speed things along alittle well alot actually.
Looking forward to seeing you and Dippers in Mauritius.
Hey, what’s happened to Bluey? (i heard he twas sited a few miles back)
xtina
Sarah,
You continue to be an inspiration. How many times I use you as an example in my junior Geography class. Yesterday it was all about Sarah getting more favourable winds etc. Thank goodness you continue pushing westward. Not that we don’t want you back here in Oz but that first loop was so frustrating.
You see, your character showed through there. I will never forget your April Fools Stunt; drats, you got me there.
i hope you will report soon enough that war and peace is the greatest. tolstoy is a genius of a writer and that book is at the top of the heap. how i envy your reading it for the first time.
Greetings once again from the permanently calm and tranquil K and A in not-so-sunny-today Wiltshire.
Its great to see you are keeping your spirits up in splendid(?) isolation. You’re made of the right stuff gal! All the very best.
Sarah:
You are so much fun. I think I’ll move to Perth.
NING NANG NONG??????? I’ve never heard this one….???? But here it is:
On the Ning Nang Nong
On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There’s a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can’t catch ’em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!
Spike Milligan
Do you know why an APPLE computer goes “BONG” when it starts up?
They couldn’t get them to say HOOKAH!!!
Tennyson is rolling in his grave LOL
It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match’d with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.
I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees: all times I have enjoyed
Greatly, have suffered greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when
Through scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vexed the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments,
Myself not least, but honoured of them all;
And drunk delight of battle with my peers;
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
I am a part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough
Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnished, not to shine in use!
As though to breathe were life. Life piled on life
Were all too little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this grey spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.
This is my son, mine own Telemachus,
To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle —
Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil
This labour, by slow prudence to make mild
A rugged people, and through soft degrees
Subdue them to the useful and the good.
Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere
Of common duties, decent not to fail
In offices of tenderness, and pay
Meet adoration to my household gods,
When I am gone. He works his work, I mine.
There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toil’d, and wrought, and thought with me —
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads — you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
How will you manage without chocolate……..!!! So pleased to be back in contact again and we did enough walking for you as well. Our love
So is Diego Garcia, which you extracted from our territory upon independence, to pass it on to the Yanks for building their huge military base.
Islanders were uprooted in a shameful way and sent to Mauritius to live in poverty.
They just won the rights to their land back from the British High Court but now getting the Americans out, or at least paying rent to Mauritius instead of to the British, is another story.
Anyway, you can proceed to Mauritius. Nobody will fire any warning shots across “Serendipity’s” bow. I’ll spike all the guns!
Cheeerio!
No, this is the amazing thing – my Heb tan is a SUN tan not a wind tan – it’s tropical here!
