Each post truly drives the reality home!! You are soooooooo close now…just over 150 miles and closing!!!

I’m sure your rowing time is filled with thoughts of all the lovely things to do and people to see once this phase is complete and you’re on terra firma once more! Hot shower, hot food, stable bed with undisturbed sleep…and then there’s Lucy in NYC!

Row, row, row, Sarah…you’re almost ashore!

Sarah, your daily phonecasts and blogs have been a part of my daily rotuine since you set off from Japan all those days ago and I have been watching and admiring your progress since then. As a fellow ocean rower and part of the Accenture team, I have been cheering you on and been absorbed in your fantastic adventure. You have the drive, perseverence and cheerfulness that is very rarely seen in one person altogether and it is soemthing that comes acorss in spades in your messages home, especially during the tough times when I suspect all you want to do is curl up and pretend you are anywhere but where you are.
You are an inspiration to us all and I look forward to your safe arrival into Adak in the coming days. Stay strong, stay safe and keep eating and sleeping (it will be difficult to keep the euphoria at bay but you need to keep in good shape for the last furlong) – good luck! We are all on your side!

Row, row, row – try and ignore the aching muscles, the painful back, knees and hands – row, row, row….you’re getting nearer with every stroke…we’re all willing you on! And the moon and the weather are also in your favour and seem to be willing you on too. All good things come to those who wait – and especially those who put a mammoth amount of effort into it in the bargain!

  6. Louise and Ray says:

Wow Sarah – suddenly you are nearly there – just keep going – the harder you row the sooner pain will be over! Just think of real food!!

    Much love

    Lou and Ray

    Hi Sarah

So pleased that your are making good progress, the miles will suddenly be gone and you will be on land with all the lovely things that will be waiting, especially being in NYC with Lucy.

What records will you be able to claim this time, certainly there must be some.

Enjoy the time that you are out on teh Ocean, better you than us but its great we can keep up to date with you.

    Much love for now

Go go go go go Sarah O! Get that flag ready and you’ll be there before you know it. I’m sure you’ll keep your wits about you on the approach, even though you are mentally and physically exhausted beyond words. One more stroke every time, just one. more. stroke.
That’s really good news about the weather hopefully staying fair, and how wonderful to row in the light of the moon – savour these moments.
It’s great to hear the excitement and energy in your voice every morning on the phonecast – I giggle out loud at work each time!

    One more stroke Sare xx

Wow Sarah nearly there! How exciting. I’ve really enjoyed watching you row across the pacific. What an achievement. You can finish this YES YOU CAN!!!

  10. Susie Hewson says:

that’s the Sarah we all know – bold, courageous, happy and positive. The big watery slog almost in the bank for Happy Sock’s part of the challenge. Alaska here we come…stay upright and under the full moon slink into shore with that flag ready to unfurl. Will it be pizza again do you think? So excited for you Sarah – keep focussed and be safe my friend. Big SISTER hugs heading your way x
